Mario Sammut Γεννήθηκε το 1955 στο St. Pauls Bay. Παρακολούθησε Τέχνη με δασκάλους τον Antoine Camilleri και Esprit Barthet. Σπούδασε κεραμική από το 1987 ως 1991 στο Targa Gap School for Craftsmen με δάσκαλο την Gabriel Caruana. Η δουλειά του Mario είναι χειροποίητη. Χρησιμοποιεί διάφορα υλικά σε συνδιασμούς μέχρι να πετύχει την αρμονία και ισοζυγίο που θέλει. Αντί υαλώματα, χρησιμοποιεί χρωματιστά οξύδεια. Το δε «ψήσιμο» γίνεται σε καμίνη που λειτουργεί με λάδι και υγραέριο σε χαμηλές και άλλοτε υψηλές θερμοκρασίες. Έλαβε μέρος σε διάφορες εκθέσεις όπως στο Iljeli Mediterranji and the Palazzo de la sale collective. Είναι μέλος του Malta Society of Arts Manufacture and Commerce. |

Mario Sammut Was born in 1955 at St. Paul’s Bay. He studied art under Antoine Camilleri and Esprit Barthet. From 1987 to 1991 he studied ceramics at Targa Gap school for Craftsmen under Gabriel Caruana. Mario’s work is handbuilt. He uses slabs to create scurlptural forms which have a harmonious balance of texture, shape and line. His work is mainly burnished, the surfaces enhanced mostly with colouring oxides in preference to glazes. Firing takes place in an oil and gas fired kiln at earthenware and sometimes stoneware temperatures. Sammut took part in various collective exhibitions, two of which were Iljieli Mediterranji and the Palazzo De La Sale Collective Exhibition. He is a member of the Malta Society of Arts, Manufacture and Commerce. |
