John Warren
γεννήθηκε στην Αγγλία, στη Βοστώνη και σπούδασε γραφικές
τέχνες στο St.
Martins School of Art
του Λονδίνου από το 1969-1973. στη συνέχεια ακολούθησε
μεταπτυχιακές σπουδές πάνω στην εικονογράφηση βιβλίων
στο Manchester Polytechnic.
Από το 1974 μέχρι το 1980 ο Τζων
Γουώρρεν εργάστηκε ως εικονογράφος βιβλίων και εκδότης
τέχνης σε εκδοτικό οίκο στο Μάντσεστερ και στο Λονδίνο.
Αφότου εγκαταστάθηκε στην Κύπρο, το
1980, επιδόθηκε στην αναπαράσταση του κυπριακού τοπίου
σ’ όλες του τις εκφάνσεις και στις τέσσερις εποχές του
χρόνου. Το κυπριακό τοπίο με την ανέλεγκτη ποικιλομορφία
των σχημάτων, περιγραμμάτων και αντιθέσεων είναι μια
αδιάλειπτη πηγή έμπνευσης για το ζωγράφο. Το δυνατό
μεσογειακό φως, η μυστηριακή ατμόσφαιρα και το φευγαλέο
του σούρουπου είναι τα επαναλαμβανόμενα θέματα στη
δουλειά του.
Τα τελευταία χρόνια
πήρε μέρος σε αρκετές ομαδικές εκθέσεις στην Κύπρο και
το Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο με το Ε.ΚΑ.ΤΕ και άλλους
καλλιτέχνες.
Πίνακες του βρίσκονται σε ιδιωτικές
συλλογές στην Κύπρο, στην Ελλάδα, Γαλλία, Γερμανία,
Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο, Νέα Ζηλανδία και ΗΠΑ.

Landscape artist John
Warren was born in Boston, England and studied graphic
design at St. Martin’s School of Art, London from
1969-1973. This was followed by post graduate studies in
illustration at Manchester Polytechnic.
Between 1974 and 1980
Warren worked as an illustrator and art editor in book
publishing both in Manchester and London.
Since moving to Cyprus
in 1980 he has concentrated on painting the local
landscape in all its moods and seasons. He draws
constant inspiration from the Cyprus landscape with its
endless variety of shape, contour and contrast. The
strong Mediterranean light and the mysterious atmosphere
and evanescence of late afternoon are recurring themes
in his work.
Warren
has seven solo exhibitions in Cyprus. Over the years he
has also participated in numerous group exhibitions both
in Cyprus and UK with EKATE and others. His paintings
can be found in private collections in Cyprus, Greece,
France, Germany, UK, New Zealand and the USA.
